Fixes needed for OpenOffice.org 2.0 (using X11) for Mac OS X

- Printing

Since OpenOffice.org 2.0.4, Cups is used and all printers seen by any Mac OS X application are seen and available. If something is still wrong, please report any problems to Printing problems with OpenOffice.org 2.0 for Mac OS X

- Fonts

The OpenOffice.org X11 uses now fondu to convert the truetype part of Mac OS X fonts ( not all fonts can be used), so that OpenOffice.org can use all truetype fonts.

I have installed a font called Park Avenue on my Mac OS X (Leopard). The Mac textedit shows it and will print it, but OpenOffice Writer does not pick it up, even on a re-install.

Note: if you can't access dead-keys, or other keys on your keyboard layout, this is an X11 problem: please see X11Keymaps.

Work in progress (Aqua version): implement OpenType font use.

- File access and networks

  • Problems in accessing networked storage (e.g. user accounts in server) -- fixes in progress

- Using X11

[UPDATE] : now, a message does appear at first launch when X11 is not installed. Ready for 2.0.3

Crash on startup after X11 Update

  • [FIXED] Just update X11 with X11 1.1.3 from Apple (using System Update )

The 1st November 06 X11 update from Apple has introduced a problem with fonts which causes Open Office to crash on startup.

The latest unstable release m188  , OOo_SRC680_m188_MacOSXIntel_en-GB.dmg, seems to work.

The news section of the OOo Mac porting page has posted a fix. Here's a link to the article. http://porting.openoffice.org/mac/news/news2006.html#20061105
